The perspective I bring

Technology in service
of your business.

A sound technical answer needs to work for the people, priorities and realities of your business.

My work has spanned technical leadership, product development, platform modernisation and commercial integrations. I’ve helped teams release more reliably, reduce operational load and develop the capability to take ownership of their systems.

That experience shapes how I advise. I ask questions, listen to the people closest to the work and examine the evidence. Then I help you make the trade-offs explicit and choose a practical next step.

You work directly with me. I’ll explain what I see, be candid about the risks and give you recommendations your team can carry forward.

Pina Vida

Prioritising release improvements and guiding implementation with the team

Each release required overnight opening of specialist facilities, security cover and overtime for engineers and testers. James prioritised understanding why on-site verification was needed and what it had to demonstrate. Working with the team, he focused on automated verification and smaller, more frequent releases, building confidence until verification could be performed entirely remotely.

How I approach independent advice

Recommendations grounded in your business.

I assess the options against your priorities, constraints and the evidence available.

I have access to a recruiter network and a partner software development agency. Referrals may involve a fee. These connections do not determine my advice: recommendations are based on the needs of your business. Any proposed introduction and referral arrangement can be discussed separately from the review.

The review and any follow-on delivery or recruitment decision have their own scope. You retain responsibility for selecting suppliers and making hiring decisions.

How I work

Curious. Collaborative.
Clear about what matters.

UK-based and remote-first. I work with clients where we can agree practical time-zone overlap, including previous engagements with US teams.

Understand first

Your people know the context. I bring questions and experience, and take the time to understand how things really work.

Make it practical

Advice needs to lead somewhere. I connect the findings to decisions, ownership and a sequence your team can use.

Leave you stronger

The aim is lasting clarity and capability: a leadership team that can make good decisions and a delivery team that can carry them through.

A conversation is a good place to start
